Marie Josée Dorlus also known as Josie Dorlus was born in the beautiful island of Haiti. Her upbringing continued in East Orange New Jersey where she attended school. Her love for music began at the age of 13 while attending middle school. Later that year, Josie wrote her first song for her 8th grade graduation titled “Keep on trying.” It was a positive song to encourage the graduates to keep on trying no matter what life brings. Writing that song was what started the desire to sing for her. In 1992, at sixteen years of age, Josie was crowned Miss Haiti of New Jersey. It was a proud accomplishment for her and her family.
After graduating high school at Clifford J. Scott High, Josie Attended Fairleigh Dickinson University for her Associates and later on received her Bachelors in Business Administration/Finance from William Paterson University. Josie’s role models are Cece Winans and the late Whitney Houston whom she emulates and became a singer herself. In 1999 Josie had her debut album self-titled Josée which did phenomenally well in the Caribbean. Late in 1999, Josie gave her life to Christ, and that’s when her journey with the Lord begun. Josie pursued the art of singing and song writing which led her to write poetry and perform her spoken words to an array of audiences. In 2002 motherhood became the most important role in her life, but she never stopped writing songs, poetry and being a positive voice to others that would come to her regarding the matters of the heart. Though music is still a passion of hers, Josie began to write her inner thoughts on love, life, relationships, wherever her mind took her. As a result of that, she unleashed her first book titled “The Journey of my Emotions. ”Presently Josie resides in the sunshine state of Florida where her journey as an author begins. Love is what inspires her to write, sing and to bring forth her talents. She is a woman of God, a mother, and a sister who will stop at nothing to spread the word of God to women of all nations. Josie is the founder of J.D.W.E.L.L. Ministries in 2012. A ministry that God has honored her with and using her at the same time as a vessel to reach out to women of all nations. J.D.W.E.L.L stands for Josie Dorlus Women Empowerment Lifeline. A lifeline that women can tap into and feel empowered by the word of God. Currently have a blog talk radio segment on line weekdays Mondays, Wednesday, and Friday at 8pm. J.D.W.E.L. Ministries ministers on different topic daily and offer sound advice from the heart.
