At age 9 a local newspaper poet told him that he had a "Gift". He took that motivation and ran with it. He began freestyling and rapping to instrumentals with his brother. Years later at age 15, with the rap name "Lil Jay", he recorded his first song "Itz On You", a collab with artist "King Spook" and "Rome". Soon afterwards, he joined the Blackout rap group with Rome, Young Mire, Murda Man and Yung Mike. For 2 years He continued making music with Blackout, creating songs such as "I'm Bout My Paper" and "Its Over". In 2011, at age 17, he decided to leave the Blackout and persue a solo career. His brother was arresed and sentenced to prison time. His brother recorded as "Da Prodigy" and he gave the name to him and Jahmir changed his rap name from "Lil Jay" to "Da Prodigy''' in honor of his big brother. Now at age 18, Da Prodigy continues to put out music. Collaborating with the best of South Georgia. |
