In short, a players ' player and a writers' writer whose songs have been favorably reviewed and endorsed by many of rocks' greats including Mark Hudson, Jimmie Vaughan, and Steve McCarty { Steve Miller band}, Tuck and and Patti, this multi award winning artist{ recently winning the coveted Producers Choice Award and a a nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year 2008 Phoenix Music awards}, is the real deal. Sage has opened for Jason Mraz, Tristan Prettyman, Shooter Jennings, Quiet Riot, Janiva Magness, Kris Delmhorst and about 100 others, including Big Brother and the Holding Co., Buffalo Springfield, Moby Grape, and Quicksilver Messenger Service,and has lost contests to Jordin Sparks, and other kids 3/4's his age.{ha ha } He has toured and / or recorded with members of TOWER OF POWER, COUNTRY JOE AND THE FISH, RAY CHARLES, IKE AND TINA TURNER REVUE, HIROSHIMA, QUEEN IDA AND HER BON TON ZYDECO BAND, EDDIE MONEY, COLD BLOOD, SUZANNE VEGA, CHARLIE PARKER, COUNT BASIE ORCH,AND HORACE SILVER and many more. He has shared stages with LILA DOWNS, ANDY SUMMERS [police},LEFTOVER SALMON, and a ton of others via the festival circuit In short , Sage is an eclectic, world travelled troubador, who sings like John Lennon with Hendrix-y guitar chops and a jazz background in be-bop with mid sixties Dylan with a little vintage Springteen and Petty thrown in the mix but really, he sounds most like Himself. At 57 he continues to impress live audiences with deft guitar skills on both acoustic and electric and solid songs and youthful melodic vocals, and a wide variety of eccellently executed material. The shortest word to describe this artist is : "INTERESTING" He comes from a place of ART but also with a great sense of commercial value. He can write a 3 minute "hit" but also enjoys the 7 minute poetic journey into the unknown. Music without boundaries...There ya go! |
